Michael A. Gorman, DC, ATC, CSCS

Dr. Michael Gorman is a licensed Chiropractic Physician; board certified Professional Applied Kinesiologist, and an Integrative and Functional Medicine Doctor. He is the owner and medical director of Gorman Chiropractic & Holistic Health Center in Fairless Hills, PA, right outside of Philadelphia. He received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from National University of Health Sciences in Illinois. He did his undergraduate study in psychology at Shippensburg University, and in sports medicine at West Chester University. Before attending Chiropractic college, Dr. Gorman worked in physical therapy and sports medicine at Holy Redeemer Hospital, at Holy Ghost Prep, and in Villanova University’s Sports Medicine Department. While at Villanova, he worked with all the sports teams, but focused on and traveled with the football and cross country and track teams, including overseeing several All-Americans and future Olympians. He also has had experience as an EMT and as a certified personal fitness trainer, where he designed strength and conditioning programs for all levels, from the average fitness enthusiast to top athletes.

Blending the best of both worlds of traditional and holistic medical perspectives into his current practice, Dr. Gorman’s primary diagnostic tool is an advanced specialty called Professional Applied Kinesiology (AK). The science of AK draws from many different therapies, including Chiropractic, osteopathic and traditional medicine, acupuncture, reflexology, clinical nutrition, psychology, and exercise rehabilitation. Through the cutting-edge methods of AK, he treats the whole person by addressing the interplay between their physical, nutritional, and emotional health; as well as addressing other things that can interfere with health such as electro-magnetic pollution, toxicity, and allergies and sensitivities. To aid in the assessment of various injuries and conditions, AK uses muscle testing as a form of biofeedback to evaluate the brain and in a sense, ask the body what is wrong, and what it needs to function optimally. This is combined with traditional diagnostic measures such as detailed history, exam, X-ray, MRI, cat scan, blood work, and urine testing; and more integrative and functional lab testing for allergies, hormones, neurotransmitters, genetic testing, and hair testing for heavy metal toxicity. Combining his psychology degree with his board certification in Neuro-Emotional Technique (NET), he is also able to specifically address the now well-documented mind-body connection, thereby positively affecting a person’s stress levels, peak mental state, performance, pain, and overall health. His office has achieved the Five Star Award from Integrity Management for superior customer service.

Aside from his private practice, Dr. Gorman is on medical staff at the prestigious and world-renowned Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential, where he consults to help evaluate and treat children with developmental delays and severe brain injuries. He does this with Chiropractic, neuro-biofeedback, functional medicine and lab work, and Professional Applied Kinesiology. He received their most prominent “Statuette with Pedestal” award, which he shares with other child advocates such as Dr. Seuss, Dr. Benjamin Spock, and Nobel Prize winners Dr. Jonas Salk and Dr. Linus Pauling. He loves personal growth and development and is a graduate of the Bucks County Leadership program, Landmark Education’s Leadership program, and Dr. Demartini’s Breakthrough Experience. He takes great pride in educating his patients daily, as well as other doctors and the public through his many speaking engagements in the area. Aside from ongoing health and inspirational talks at his office, he has lectured at Thomas Jefferson University’s School of Integrative Medicine, Aria Hospital, St. Mary’s Hospital, NovaCare physical therapy, The Philly Fit Bash, The Lower Bucks Chamber of Commerce, The Pennsylvania Athletic Trainer’s Society, Temple University and West Chester University’s Sports Medicine departments, several massage schools, and the Lower Bucks YMCA. He has been a teaching assistant for many post-graduate courses in Chiropractic and Professional Applied Kinesiology, and has participated in a research study to further the scientific validity of Chiropractic. He has also served on the Board of Directors for the Lower Bucks Family YMCA.

Dr. Gorman has taken a multitude of additional post-graduate coursework including extensive hours of functional neurology, acupuncture, clinical nutrition, advanced sports medicine, psychology, pediatrics, cold laser therapy, Trigenics, non-invasive allergy testing and treatments, and various energy medicine techniques including TBM (Total Body Modification), NMT (Neuro-Modulation Technique), Total Kinesiology (TK), and all three levels of Reiki. In addition to taking over 1,000 formal hours of Professional Applied Kinesiology, he also holds certifications in Acupuncture and Meridian Therapy, Neuro-Emotional Technique (NET), Athletic Training (ATC), Strength and Conditioning (CSCS), Brimhall technique, and as a Yoga instructor. Because of the complexity and diverse nature of these specialties, in addition to his traditional sports medicine experience, his passion ranges from treating someone with severe pain, fatigue, or serious chronic conditions desperately searching for a solution; to the average person who wants to decrease stress, lose weight, get off their medications, and improve their energy and health; all the way up to the most elite professional athletes looking to prevent injuries and maximize their performance and recovery. When not practicing, writing, teaching, or attending seminars himself, he enjoys yoga, running, sports, reading, and listening to personal development, and spending time with his family and friends. The highlight of his life is his wife Kim, and their three children: Abby, AJ, and Anthony.

Please check out this chart to see how Dr. Gorman’s Chiropractic education at National University of Health Sciences (NUHS) is similar to and in many ways more comprehensive than most traditional allopathic medical schools:
